Hello readers,
Time for another newsletter and it feels like my March one only just went out! March has been super busy for me, and not only that, it’s been a whole year since I have been doing this full time. It’s a strange feeling as it definitely doesn’t feel like it’s been a whole year. Some of you have been with me from the start and I’d like to thank you all for sticking around.
So what I have I been doing? Lots of things have been going on in my personal life, and in between that I have been doing more of my embroidery, and planning for some future yokai merch. I’ve had it as a long term plan for a while, but while I was out shopping I bought these keyrings and it made me want to step up on my ideas. I absolutely love these keyrings, and the brand they are from, and they suit my stories so well… except I haven’t featured a nekomata. Not yet anyway, perhaps a future idea.
Also this month I bought these amazing tarot cards, the photo really doesn’t do them justice and even mutes just how golden they are in real life. They are all foiled and I love all the textures and the feel of the cards in my hand.
I do enjoy tarot and sometimes use the cards and oracle cards for story and character creation. Maybe in future I will do more tarot themes stories too.
What’s been happening on Ream
Because this month has been a year doing this full time, I celebrated by giving away some freebies on top of the monthly story. For those subscribed, I posted chapter 2 of Unbound by the Sea, a romantasy novella I am working on. And for my free followers I posted not only chapter 1 of Unbound by the Sea, but also the short story Not Quite Dead Enough.
Here’s a teaser of Unbound by the Sea:
Love, politics, lust, power, freedom, betrayal, and pain. The country of Mokuratsu-ji has a lot of history with it's surrounding neighbours. In an act of war, they created a tempest, one to keep everyone away... and it did... and it kept going. So long, in fact, they named it the Ever Storm, and learnt how to be dependant on only themselves. But even the most terrible storm doesn't last forever, and not everyone wants to be cooped up. What lies in store for those now Unbound by the Sea?
It’s a project I’m pretty excited about, and it’s been good having a project that isn’t Tales of Yamato. Alongside that, for this month’s story I also moved away from Tales of Yamato and even returned to an old idea back when I was writing science-fantasy. This has been posted up now, and here’s a teaser.

If all goes well, April will be when I finish the last story planned for the first Tales of Yamato. I know I haven’t finished with all the characters yet, and so a second book is definitely going to happen, and more stories will be posted up. However, I have reached a good amount of stories which I think makes up a good book (and maybe even more than I need), so from here is where things get even more exciting. May onwards is where I plan on going over each story and editing, and starting the process to be ready for publishing. Because I am working with history, I intend to do more research and get outside help to really iron out any off details to truly make my stories shine. I don’t know how long the whole process will take, but I will keep you all updated. And, with all going well, Tales of Yamato will be published this year.
