Hello readers,
It’s sad that the summer is over now, and autumn is upon us. I do love autumn, but I am really not looking forward to all the cold weather again. I managed to have a week off on holiday (and got ill the moment I got there, yay) and spent each day being busy with something. For one of the days, I went to Puzzlewood in the Forest of Dean. It’s a magical place, one that doesn’t show it’s true qualities in pictures. I’m also fairly sure it’s also an inspiration of Tolkien’s when writing the Lord of the Rings. Here are some pictures from my trip.
In the second picture you might be able to spot part of an installation that was there at the time, kodama inspired by Princess Mononoke (the studio Ghibli film). I found it quite amusing how even on holiday I couldn’t escape yokai.
Now I’m back to writing and back to a routine again. August is always hard because that’s when school is on holiday and it’s so easy to break routine and slack off.
On Ream
This month on Ream there is more of Unbound by the Sea, and this time we see deeper into Yuna’s mind and past.

Tales of Yamato
The biggest update I have is for my pride and joy Tales of Yamato. My editor finished working on it and has given me some great feedback on how I can improve it. So, now I am working hard on editing. So far I’ve completed one story, and deep within the second.
If you’d like to see how I’m getting on in quicker updates, I have been posting on Bluesky where I’m at, as well as photos of my ‘assistant’ Phoebe (my cat) who likes to keep me in check.
I’m really hoping to get all the edits done in September, but writing is fickle and life is fickler.
Want to find new authors and/or books to try?
For September it’s all about sci fi and fantasy. Come have a look at the many books from indie authors: https://books.bookfunnel.com/septemberfantasyscififreebies/uk5d4qjsjr
Thank you for reading this far. Want to chat? Comment on the substack post or even send me an email. I’d love to hear from you.
See you again in the next newsletter.
Congrats on the feedback from your editor, Odessa.
How are you liking Ream? It's only been on my radar for a couple of weeks but I haven't looked into it very far yet.
